Day 3: Bosphorus Day Tour / Fly to Izmir / Kusadasi
Embark on a mesmerizing odyssey through Istanbul's soul, where centuries of history dance with the vibrant pulse of modern life. As dawn's golden fingers caress the city, lose yourself in the intoxicating aromas of the 17th-century Egyptian Bazaar (Spice Bazaar) in Eminönü, before setting sail on the mythical Bosphorus, where Europe and Asia flirt across shimmering waters. Let your eyes feast on a parade of architectural wonders - the opulent Dolmabahçe Palace, the elegant Çırağan Palace, and the formidable Rumeli Fortress - each whispering tales of sultans and empires. Wander through the enchanting cobblestone labyrinth of Fener and Balat, where colorful houses and quaint cafés set the stage for countless Turkish dramas, both on-screen and in daily life. Marvel at the iron-clad beauty of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church of St. Stephen and pay homage to centuries of faith at the Orthodox Patriarchate. As the day's golden light fades, ascend to the legendary Pierre Loti Café, where, perched high above the Golden Horn, you'll raise a cup of Turkish coffee to the French writer who once found inspiration in this very spot. As night falls, soar towards Izmir, your heart full of Istanbul's timeless magic, ready to embrace the wonders of Kusadasi that await.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch & dinner
Day 4: Pamukkale / Hierapolis / Kusadasi
Today, you will travel back in time as you explore the historic city of Troy, also known as Ilion, which thrived thanks to its strategic location on trade routes connecting Europe and Asia. You will continue to Pergamon, one of the ancient world's cultural, commercial, and medical hubs in Asia Minor. In Pergamum, you will see the Acropolis, the world's steepest theater, Asclepius, and a panoramic view of the Altar of Zeus, which is referenced in the Book of Revelations. Another significant site you will visit is the Library, which, according to archaeologists, rivaled that of Alexandria in terms of written records, with over 200,000 written records. The city's name is a corruption of "Bergamini" or "parchment," which was the paper made from the treatment of sheepskins that rivaled papyrus for writing reasons. You will then go to Kusadasi, check into your hotel, eat, and rest.
